As for sound, 770s are more neutral than the 990s. They have a pretty small soundstage. The 990s have a fun V shaped sound, not as neutral, but it makes for a pretty exciting listening experience, and their soundstage is the best of the 770/880/990 trio. My personal preference is the DT990. As for ohms.

I own a BD DT-990 Pro in its 250 ohms version and my fairly-old M-Audio MobilePre MKII interface can correctly "drive" it but I have to crank the headphone volume up to 100% every time. Made in Germany, innovative "Bass reflex" system for excellent audio performance. Open design, includes carry case, 11 oz light weight. Fiio E11 worked fine with my DT990 Pro 250-Ohm.
