The Golf is around $225/month less than the Golf GTI and saves about $13,000 in payments over the course of five years. The Golf R is about $125 more per month than the GTI and costs about $18,000 more over the course of the loan. Cost to lease: Golf vs. Golf GTI vs. Golf R

So, to summarize, 1. Golf GTI and GTI PP get the IS20 turbine with slightly different maps. 2. Clubsport, Clubsport S and R get the IS38 with slightly different maps and slightly reinforced internals, greater flow direct injection nozzles and low pressure fuel pump. Just my opinion. The Golf R's 2.0T is the same basic unit found in the Audi TTS-- the high-output version of the old, EA113 2.0-liter turbo (the high-output iteration of the newer EA888 2.0T hasn't yet been finished).

As for the sound, my guess is it will sound nearly identical to the stock mk7 GTI, there may be a subtle difference due to the larger tips. Certainly none of the reviews/comparisons I have read on the 7.5 GTI have reported any change sound wise. Would like to know for sure though. Answer (1 of 8): actually TSI is turbo petrol engine ( Turbocharged Stratified Injection ) GTI is the sportier version of a model, usually a Golf or Polo. The Mk7 GTI is equipped with an evolution of the 2.0t turbocharged Volkswagen ‘TSI’ EA888 generation of engines. Although they share the same fundamental look, a limited number of parts, and utilize similar concepts, the EA888 Gen 3 of the Mk7 GTI features many distinct differences from the Gen 1 and Gen 2 variants.
The Golf R’s performance doesn’t feel as great a leap over the base GTI as you might expect, in the corners at least. Fitted with the automatic DSG gearbox, the Golf R will go from 0-62mph in 4.9sec, compared with 6.5sec in the GTI. B-roads just go by in a blur and a howling soundtrack. Where the GTI is quick, its more powerful sibling

Fuel efficiency. 14.28 kmpl. 17.24 kmpl. So, the deal is quite clear here. So, if you want a powerful car then the Golf GTI is a more clear choice. The R-Line is a good option too with substantial power in hand. However, the bigger the engine, the more fuel it will consume. I see no situation other than financial that I'd look at an older and used car. I'd say the 8 has slightly better tech than the 7.5, the interior trades blows depending on your preferences, the exterior is a bit worse on the 8 in my opinion, the engine and power band is definitely different and improved on the 8. 2021 vs. 2022 Volkswagen Golf R: What's the Difference? The 2022 Volkswagen Golf R is a brand-new model, as it has been on hiatus since the 2019 model year. Following the 2021 model year, Volkswagen discontinued the Golf in the United States, making the redesigned GTI and Golf R the lone VW Golf models available.
The Mk1 GTI feels simple, light, quick and fun to drive. Mk7 GTI is 452mm longer and 516kg heavier than the Mk1. Mk1 GTI has 130bhp per tonne, the Mk5 GTI 147bhp per tonne. Mk7 shows nods to 1970s
