Thecar has just over 90,000 miles on the clock and according to the service history the belt has not yet been changed. The dealer sells quite a few Audis and insists that this won't need to be done until approx. 114,000 miles. I would have thought this is quite high mileage without a change.
Model Roomster SE 1.6TDi 105PS. Posted 19 October, 2010. Recommended change interval for the TDi 105 PD is 4 years or 60,000 miles whichever comes first. They also recommend changing the water pump at the same time. Readingthe manual for the EA288 TDi motor that was posted on here the quoted interval is 210,000km ( or 120,000km in harsh environment countries ) That is around 131,000 miles ( or 75,000 miles in harsh environment ) There is no age interval quoted for changing the belt. Not sure I would be happy leaving a belt so long between Simplyway to check them belt is to pull the cover off. Really simple to do. Make sure to change the tensioner with the belt. Highly recommend you do your drive belt at the same time. As for the water pump replacement, I still haven't done that. I'm up for my third belt in 5K miles, (210,000 miles) and I don't intend on replacing it. Anotherissue I see time and time again is a low mileage car with no timing belt change. This car could be 7-10 years old, 30-50k miles. People don't realize that mileage isn't the only determining factor when it comes to belt changes, its a rubber belt and rubber deteriorates over time, so even a 7 year old car with 30k miles on it is past Model MK3 Skoda Superb 4x4 Estate 190ps. . #2. Audi are correct. The 2.0 TDI has a belt. Originally Audi set a mileage change interval in their handbooks (typically over 100,000 miles for a diesel) but around May 2014 (date, not car manufacturing date) they introduced an overriding 5-year recommendation if the mileage was lower. I have read through this and many forums that the 5 year timing belt change is an Advisory and not a requirement and that some things have stated that apparently VW Germany state timing belts are good to 130k miles / 210k KM. I have also seen its either 5 years or 80k miles.
